An organization representing tricycle
owners has alleged a plot by a rival group to
illegally take over parks in the Lagos State.
The Tricycle Owners and Operators Association
of Nigeria (TOOAN) Chairman, Joseph
Odusanya, said there was thus an urgent need
to alert the Lagos State Government on the
plans by some “unscrupulous people to create
serious pandemonium and anarchy at tricycle
parks in the state.”
He alleged that a “strange” association known
as Tricycle Owners and Drivers Association of
Lagos State (TODAL), led by the State
Caretaker Chairman of the Road Transport
Employers Association on Nigeria (RTEAN),
Mohammed Musa, had already forcefully
taken over TOOAN parks in Iba and Oto-Awori,
as well as Ojo Local Government Area.
“As law abiding citizens of Nigeria we have
instructed our members to be calm and avoid
any violent confrontation despite the
unwarranted provocations. They have
continued to threaten our lives and intimidate
us with a particular police officer who claimed
to be a brother to the outgoing Inspector
General of police, Muhammed Abubakar,”
alleged Odusanya as he addressed journalists
in Lagos.
He added, “The state Commissioner for
Transportation, Kayode Opeifa in response to
our petition, coupled with the state
government’s zero tolerance for violence had
written the State Commissioner of Police,
Umar Manko, confirming our association which
is an affiliate of the National Union of Road
Transport Workers, NURTW as the one
recognized by the state government.”
Tricycles popularly called Keke NAPEP , are
becoming a major means of transportation in
the state. They have have become a reliable
shuttle due to the ever present gridlock on
Lagos roads.

Teens Are Setting Themselves On Fire Because.. Why Not?
Forget the school pool or weekend
trips to Genesis. This summer,
teenagers have found something way
more productive to do with their
time; light themselves on fire in
hopes of becoming social media
famous on platforms like YouTube
and Vine.
The Daily Dot reports on this
phenomenon, saying "the trend isn’t
exactly new, but it seems to have
reached a fever pitch in the last
week: A 15-year-old in Lexington,
Ky., suffered second-degree burns
after torching his torso , while a
phony report of another boy dying in
Buffalo, N.Y. , has begun to make the
social media rounds."
If you search through the
#FireChallenge hashtag on Vine or
Twitter, you get a horrifying look at
what this trend entails. This is not
the old harmless swinging of your
finger through a lit candle.
These kids are dousing themselves in
lighter fluid and then taking a match
to their skin.
This same kid, who got his wish to go
viral, came back later with Part 2, an
explanation of what happens when
you light yourself on fire.
The message: don't do this at home.
You think?
HTC Set To Turn The HTC 1m8 Into A Windows Phone(rumors)
HTC sent out invitations Wednesday
to a press event on August 19,
presumably to unveil its rumored
HTC One for Windows Phone.
It's unclear exactly what to expect,
but reports suggest it will be just like
the critically acclaimed HTC One M8,
except it will run Windows Phone
instead of Android.
The device, which is currently
codenamed W8, is said to feature the
same 3-D camera and superb
BoomSound speakers we've all seen in
the Android HTC One M8, according
to @evleaks.
Many consider the Android variant
of the HTC One to be the best
Android phone in the world.(lol)
Tipsters also reportedly told Engadget
that the device will be available
through Verizon before the end of
September.
Ever since critics praised the original
HTC One when it launched in 2013,
the company has been taking a
similar strategy toward the rest of its
smartphones.
Even the lower-end shitty plastic HTC
Desire 816 features a design similar
to the One and a high-quality
camera.
It wouldn't be surprising to see HTC
bring this same design philosophy to
its Windows Phone line.
We expect to learn more next
month.

Eight killed in yobe terror attack
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents
have reportedly killed eight people in Katarko
village in the outskirts of Damaturu, the Yobe
state capital.
The terrorists allegedly blew off an important
bridge during the siege.
Katarko, which is 22 kilometres south of
Damaturu the Yobe state capital, is a
community in Gujba Local Government Area of
the state and believed to be one of the
strongholds of the sect in the Northeastern
state.
Residents revealed to journalists that the
insurgents stormed the town last evening, first
attacking the military base before moving to
some houses where they killed the civilians.
One of the residents who claimed that the
siege was on for over seven hours, told
journalists on Tuesday morning that, “they
(suspects) came here and launched an
unsuccessful attack on the military base before
embarking on some selective killings within
town living us with eight casualties presently
being prepared for burial."
He said the insurgents stormed the town
without any form of resistance.
It was also gathered that during the siege the
insurgents blew off the Katarko Bridge linking
Damaturu to their stronghold-Buni Yadi, the
capital of Gujba Local Government Area of
the state. This area connects Yobe and
neighbouring Borno and Adamawa states, all
under emergency rule as a result of the Boko
Haram insurgency.
Tevez’s father freed after being kidnapped
Carlos Tevez father has
been freed after being
kidnapped and held for
ransom for over eight
hours.
The incident happened in the outskirts of the
capital city Buenos Aires at around 7am when
Juan Alberto Cabral’s car was hijacked, Argentina
newspaper La Nacion has reported.
The offenders contacted Tevez’s family and made
an initial demand that was much lower than a
second request for ransom a short while later.
Police investigated the incident and Tevez was on
the verge of travelling to his home country to help
deal with the matter.
“He was been kidnapped almost at eight in the
morning," an official statement confirmed. "His
family called 911 and the public prosecutor
Stornelli started working with the corresponding
division of the police
“The first thing we do is protecting the victim’s
physical integrity. The release was nearby Fuerte
Apache [the shanty town where Tevez lived when
he was young]. Tevez’s father is shaken but he is
OK - I’ve talked with him.”
Tevez is believed to still be in Turin following the
ordeal but has been left out of Wednesday’s
friendly in Cesena.
Isreal strikes house of gaza leader
Israeli aircraft, tanks and navy
gunboats targeted symbols of Hamas control in
Gaza City early on Tuesday in the heaviest
night of bombardment in three weeks of
Israel-Hamas fighting after Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a
"prolonged" campaign in Gaza.
The overnight strikes hit the home of the top
Hamas leader in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, as
well as government offices and the
headquarters of the Hamas satellite TV
station.
Israeli forces fired hundreds of flares that
turned the night sky bright orange. By
daybreak on Tuesday, a cloud of thick dust
from the explosions hung over Gaza City.
A Palestinian health official put the overall
Gaza death toll at 1 110. Israel has lost 53
soldiers, including four killed Monday in a
mortar attack in southern Israel, along with
two civilians and a Thai national.
Escalation
Signalling an escalation of Israel's Gaza
operation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
told Israelis on Monday to be ready for a
"prolonged" war, and the military warned
Palestinians in three large neighbourhoods to
leave their homes and head immediately for
Gaza City.
Plumes of smoke rose above the Al Shorouq
media building in central Gaza City which
houses the offices of the Hamas-run Al Aqsa
television and radio. Hours earlier, at least
two major explosions hit the media building,
one of the tallest in Gaza, starting a fire on
the roof and shaking surrounding buildings.
AP video showed a massive flash as the first
strike hit the top of the building, sending
debris raining down. The building also houses
offices of a number of Arab satellite television
news channels.
The Abu Khadra government complex in Gaza
City was also badly damaged by the Israeli
attacks.
Defiance
Hamas leaders remained defiant in the
aftermath of the Israeli onslaught
"My house is not more valuable than the
houses of other people, destroying stones will
not break our determination," Haniyeh said.
Netanyahu defended the Gaza air and ground
offensive, saying in a televised speech Monday
that "there is no war more just than this".
The overnight strikes came after a day of
heavy Hamas-Israeli fighting in which nine
children were killed by a strike on a Gaza
park where they were playing, according to
Palestinian health officials - a tragedy that
each side blamed on the other.
Israeli tanks also resumed heavy shelling in
border areas of Gaza, killing five people,
including three children and a 70-year-old
woman, and wounding 50 in the town of
Jebaliya, which was among the areas warned
to evacuate, the Red Crescent said.
Many Jebaliya residents said they did not
dare attempt an escape. Sufian Abed Rabbo
said his extended family of 17 had taken
refuge under the stairway in their home.
"God help us. We have nothing to do but
pray," the 27-year-old told The Associated
Press by phone. "I don't know who left and
who stayed, but in our street, we are all very
scared to move."

President Jonathan condemns terror attack in Kano
President Goodluck Jonathan on
Monday said he ``wholeheartedly condemned’’
the recent terrorist attacks in Kano and
Adamawa states.
The president also denounced the kidnap of
Seini Lamine, the Lamido of Kolofata in
Northern Cameroon, and the wife of the vice-
prime minister of Cameroon, by Boko Haram
insurgents.
Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser on Media
and Publicity to the President, said in a
statement that Jonathan described the
multiple bomb blasts that occurred in Kano
within 24 hours of each other as shocking and
reprehensible.
The media reports that Kano has witnessed
multiple bomb attacks by Boko Haram
elements, using female suicide bombers, since
Sunday.
The president said that the attacks were
callous considering the fact that they came at
a time Muslims were observing the holy festival
of Eid-el-Fitr.
“Jonathan notes that the deployment of young
women as suicide bombers represents a new low
in the inhuman campaign by these terrorists.”
“It is an expression of utter disregard for the
dignity of the female gender as well as a
wicked exploitation of the girl-child,” the
statement said.
The president also noted that the abduction of
the Lamido of Kolofata and the wife of the
vice-premier of Cameroon, clearly
underscored the regional security threat that
Boko Haram had become.
Jonathan welcomed the recent resolve by the
Defence Ministers of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad,
Benin and Niger to further strengthen existing
partnerships.
It said that the partnerships were aimed at
forestalling “the desperate attempt by
misguided elements to turn the sub-region
into a battleground for terrorism and radical
extremism.”
“Jonathan urges the security forces to remain
resolute, and not be discouraged by the
desperation of the agents of evil.”
“He believes that with the continued
cooperation between Nigeria’s security forces
and their counterparts in neighbouring
countries, the war against terror will surely be
won.”
“He commiserates with the families of all those
who lost their loved ones in the Kano and
Adamawa attacks and wishes the injured
speedy recovery,’’ the statement said.

The iPhone 8 *coughs* iPhone 6 and ALL you really need to know.
Apparently the iPhone 6 is currently the world's most anticipated phone, according to TechRadar anyway( not like anyone listens to them in the first place), but honestly i don't see the reason for all the hype coz it's not like any other phone with groundbreaking importance has been announced or anything, i mean we don't even need to think far to have an idea of what the thing would look like.
But lets get our facts straight first:-
1- what does it look like? Probably like any other bloody iPhone around.
2- The OS? iOS 8 to be precise- Yosemite or something, basically just a review of iOS 7 with a longer app drawer.
3- Release Dates? Between today and September.
4- PRICE? Some sources believe that it'll fall between N90 - N120( i pray)
5-should you buy it? Of course! Who wouldn't want an iPhone no matter how shitty and mirrored it seems.
That's all for now anyway, I'll update as soon as i know more
Israel carries out 3 strikes on Gaza
Jerusalem - The Israeli military says it has
carried out three airstrikes on Gaza, targeting
Hamas rocket launchers and infrastructure in
the strip.
The strikes broke a relative lull in the fighting
at the start of a major Muslim holiday.
The military says Israeli jets hit two rocket
launchers and a rocket manufacturing facility
in central and northern Gaza on Monday.
It says the airstrikes were in response to a
Hamas rocket launched into Israel earlier in
the morning.
The strikes followed an almost 12-hour lull in
war-torn Gaza.

problems, a woman in Scotland had to hear
doctors give her incredibly embarrassing news.
She had a sex toy inside her vagina for the
last decade, the 38-year-old woman had to
hear doctors spell out at the Aberdeen Royal
Infirmary, Fox News reports.
Doctors saw the five-inch sex toy pressing
against her bladder from inside her vagina
after they conducted X-rays of her abdomen.
The woman said she remembered using the sex
toy, but under the influence of alcohol she
couldn’t recall ever taking it out.
Hospital where Ebola virus victom dies isolated
Lagos - Lagos on Monday shut down and
quarantined a hospital where a man died of
Ebola in the first recorded case of the highly
infectious disease in Africa's most populous
country.
Patrick Sawyer, a consultant for the Liberian
finance ministry in his 40s, collapsed on
arrival at Lagos airport on July 20 and was
put in isolation at the First Consultants
Hospital in Obalende, one of the most crowded
parts of a city that is home to 21 million
people. He died on Friday.
"We have shut the hospital to enable us to
properly quarantine the environment. Some of
the hospital staff who were in close contact
with the victim have been isolated," Lagos
state health commissioner Jide Idris told
Nigerian TV.
The hospital will be shut for a week and all
staff monitored to ensure the virus has not
spread, he added.
Ebola has killed 672 people across Guinea,
Liberia and Sierra Leone since it was first
diagnosed in February.
It can kill up to 90 percent of those who catch
it, although the fatality rate of the current
outbreak is around 60 percent. Highly
contagious, especially in the late stages,
symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea and
internal and external bleeding.
Adding to the risks, Nigerian doctors are on
strike over conditions and pay. Chairman of
the Nigerian Medical Association Tope Ojo was
quoted in local media on Saturday as saying
the strike would not be called off despite the
Ebola threat.
Nigeria's airports, seaports and land borders
have been on "red alert" since Friday.
Liberia closed most of its border crossings on
Sunday and introduced stringent health
measures.
The World Health Organization said in a
statement that Sawyer's flight stopped in Lome
in Togo on its way to Lagos.
"WHO is sending teams to both Nigeria and
Togo to do follow up work in relation to
contact tracing, in particular to contacts he
may have had on board the flight," WHO
spokesman Paul Garwood said.
The WHO said that in the past week, its
regional director for Africa, Luis Sambo, had
been on a fact finding mission to Guinea,
Liberia and Sierra Leone, which have 1,201
confirmed, suspected and probable cases
between them.
"He observed that the outbreak is beyond each
national health sector alone and urged the
governments of the affected countries to
mobilize and involve all sectors, including civil
society and communities, in the response," the
WHO statement said.
A relative surge in cases in Guinea after weeks
of low viral activity showed that "undetected
chains of transmission existed in the
community", the WHO said, calling for
containment measures and contact tracing to
be stepped up in Guinea.

Waste polythene causes panic in kaduna
Ordinary waste polythene, packaged in a sack and wrapped with cello tape and dumped by the side of ever busy Ahmadu Bello Way, caused panic within Kaduna metropolis Monday.
Residents ran helter-skelter, vehicles were diverted and shop owners around the scene hurriedly scamper for safety before calling the attention of the police anti-bomb squad, as content of the sack was suspected to be an explosive device.
The news of the ‘bomb’ which went round Kaduna town with the speed of light created serious panic and motorist hurriedly took to other routes thereby causing serious traffic jam at such routes.
Shops owners within Kaduna metropolis also locked up their shops and took to their heels as our correspondent who rushed to the scene observed that people were running for safety and shouts of bomb generated tension around the area.
Meanwhile, combined team of security personnel comprising of men of the police anti-bomb squad, army and other none uniform security operatives arrived the scene and condoned off the area, while people were asked to stay away from the area pending when the content could be ascertained.
After carrying out necessary checks with the aid of anti-bomb equipment, the sack was discovered to contain waste polythene bags wrapped in the sack.
Meanwhile, a military officer who addressed shop owners around the area had earlier confirmed that it was a wheel barrow man that dropped the sack there, urged them to be more vigilant, and henceforth ensure that such persons are not let go un-interrogated.
When contacted, Kaduna Police spokesperson, SP Aminu Lawan confirmed the incident while commending the people of the area for their consciousness.
According to SP Lawan, “ there was such scare and panic but there was nothing as speculated, our men upon receiving the call were deployed to the area, it was immediately condoned off while our anti-bomb squad carried out the required checks, and it was discovered that the sack contained waste polythene, no Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) was found it.”
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing the report, normalcy had returned to the area, with few shops re-opened for business.
Wireless charging in cardilac vehicles
Wireless inductive charging is coming to Cadillacs. Starting with the 2015 ATS and later hitting the CTS and Escalade, the vehicles can be equipped with a Powermat charging pad. Sadly, most devices with wireless charging use a competing standard and are not compatible with this system.
The Powermat charging pad will be located behind the Caddy’s motorized CUE infotainment screen. Hit a button and the screen rises up, revealing a storage bin with the charging pad. Just place the phone on the pad, and it starts charging.
The system is compatible with all PMA-certified devices, but that list is fairly short and most notable includes a universal charging system from Duracell. The majority of smartphones equipped with wireless charging use the Qi system which is incompatible with Powermat.
This isn’t the first time Powermat devices have found their way into GM‘s cars. The system was already an option on the Chevy Volt following a $5 million investment from GM Ventures into the company.
Teen Gets 332 Teeth Extracted From His Mouth
A teenager in India, who had more than 200 "teeth" growing in his mouth due to a benign dental tumor, has had them removed.
Ashik Gavai, a 17-year-old student from Buldhana, underwent the six-hour operation, which involved four doctors at Mumbai's J.J. Hospital on July 21.
The teen had 232 denticles -- abnormal teeth-like growth -- lodged in his mouth due to a complex composite odontoma, a benign dental tumor.
The abnormal teeth were embedded in the bone inside the lower right jaw and were not visible from outside the mouth. Surgeons say the surgery was "dangerous" and the patient's jawbone will take three to four months to heal.
"It is very common for a person to have a (small) number of abnormal teeth, but this many is very rare," said Dr. Sunanda Dhiware, head of the Department of Dentistry at J.J. Hospital. She adds that she knows of cases where 40 to 50 teeth were removed.
Gavai's normal teeth are to remain in his mouth, although the doctors did help to remove a wisdom tooth.
The teen is currently recovering in the hospital and has been put on a liquid diet of mainly coconut water and milk.
According to Dr. Vandana Thoravade, surgeon in the ENT department at J.J. Hospital, the operation could have cost as much as 250,000 rupees (about $4,000), which the Gavai family could not afford. The teen's father is a farm laborer who earns 150-200 rupees ($2-3) a day.
The government's Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana program -- which supports low income patients -- took care of the bill.
Gavai's doctors said the denticles likely started to form when the patient was six years old, but Gavai did not notice the abnormal teeth until a month ago, when his mouth began to swell.
10 year old girl dies in a hot car
The death of a 10-month-old girl left in a hot car in Wichita, Kanas -- the latest in a string of hot-car child deaths in the United States -- triggered the quick arrest of the girl's foster father and on Friday prompted state officials to launch home inspections of adoptive and foster families.
The foster father told police he picked up with child from a babysitter about 4 p.m. Thursday, drove home and forgot the child was in the back seat, according to Lt. Todd Ojile of the Wichita Police Department.
Investigators say the girl was locked in the car with the windows up for some two-and-a-half hours. Temperatures in the Wichita area reached the low 90s on Thursday.
The foster father was in the process of adopting the girl with his partner, according to police. "Both were extremely upset," Ojile said.
Ojile says the couple's other children have been removed from the home as the investigation continues. The couple are the adoptive parents of two children and are foster parents to four others with ages ranging from 3 to 18 years old, he said.
On Friday, Kansas Department for Children and Families Secretary Phyllis Gilmore ordered immediate home inspections for all adoptive and foster families associated with the agency that approved the couple for foster care.
The 29-year-old foster father, whose name was not released by police, was booked on an aggravated endangerment charge but has not been formally charged. Ojile said the district attorney could file charges as early as next week.
So far in 2014, according to statistics compiled by the Department of Geosciences at San Francisco State University, there have been at least 18 heatstroke deaths of children left in vehicles. In one highly publicized case, a Georgia father remains in jail awaiting trial on murder and child cruelty charges in the death of his toddler son, who was left in the father's SUV for seven hours.
